Ultralights have been around since the late 70’s – at least as being classified as ultralights. Since the start there has always been a “way” to learn how to fly. Even now, despite there being no true “ultralight trainers” you can still learn to fly. Whatever you do, don’t go hop into an ultralight and hope you can figure it out. Playing on microsoft flight simulator will not prepare you at all.
Here is a youtube video of a guy trying to teach himself to fly. Keep in mind that he is flying the Weedhopper, which is a 2-axis ultralight and known to be one of the EASIEST planes to fly. Infact it’s likely tied with the Quicksilver and Lazair as being the easiest. Several others come to mind that would be right up there. Despite them being so easy, there’s that pesky “landing part” you have to figure out. That part isn’t so easy until you properly learn.
